Storage, Emergency Procedures, Security and other

The following information has been compiled for the EHLS at Peter James Centre. The library is located at the back of the Education Centre near the staff car park.

Storage/Supply

• Fly spray and eucalyptus oil are in the metal filing cabinet

Emergency Procedures and Equipment

• Announcements of Emergency Codes (overhead paging) can be heard in the library, as the speakers are in the “common central area”. Please note that the overhead paging cannot be heard if outside between the portables and the main building.
• The Fire Extinguisher is located near the entrance/exit door of the back portable.
• Break Glass Alarm is located near the entrance/exit door of the back portable (around the corner from the toilet).
• The Emergency Codes notice is located on the wall near the Library’s printer.  Another copy is located above the sink in the “common central area”.
• The WIP phone is located in the foyer of the front portable (Access Area)
• The Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) for the portables are Kylie Smith(?) and Julie Owen(?) (front portable).
• A copy of the current OHS and MSDS folders for the portables are kept in Portable A’s Access Unit Admin Office (Director of Library Services has requested for a copy of the current Hazard Inspection 16 Feb 2018)
• The Emergency Assembly Points plan/map is located above the sink in the “common central area”.
• The Emergency Exit is at the back portable’s entrance/exit door and the green exit sign is illuminated and visible. The library also has an Emergency Exit door alongside the library office area and is marked as such but does not have a green exit sign.
• The assembly point for people in the library is in the lawn area at the top of the staff car park near the exit boom gate.
• The Bomb Threat Checklist is under the library office phone.
• A Duress Alarm is located near the water cooler dispenser on the wall in the common central area just outside the library.

Security

• Photo ID, Magnetic Name IDs and personal emergency tags are worn by EHLS staff

Other

• Shannon Dunkley is the OHS Advisor for Peter James Centre (NEEDS CHECKING)
• A security waste bin is located in the hallway, just outside the library

Opening Procedures

• Turn on lights (switches are in the library, to the right of the emergency exit door)
• Open blinds
• Tidy up library
• Turn on computers
• Turn on printer & check paper (A4 paper is in the filing cabinet’s 1st drawer)

• Process loans and staff registration forms (from in-tray) - loans’ paperwork in filing cabinet’s 2nd drawer – wooden box

• Process book returns (from blue basket)
• Pick up mail from Reception (main building, access via Reception’s back door)

Closing Procedures

• Tidy up library
• Lock desk drawers
• Shut down computers
• Turn off printer (leave small amount of paper)
• Close blinds
• Turn off lights

Other Information

• The Library is located at the back of the portables, within the Education Centre, near the staff car park
• Usually open two or three days per week
• Access at all other times via key at Reception for authorized staff only (same key opens portable door & library door)
• To access portables outside business hours, contact Reception who will then let Security know (portables are alarm coded).
• Library Ph. 9881 1168 – after 25 seconds of ringing, it goes to voicemail and message is sent to the PJC generic email
• PJC set of 3 keys (front door & desk drawers; filing cabinet does not lock)
• Yellow key for the Education Centre’s Meeting Room, opposite the Library, is in the desk drawers’ 1^st drawer with a filing cabinet key
• 2 reverse-cycle air conditioners (remote controls are in the desk drawers)
• Library Staff can use the photocopier in the Quality Office (same portable) – TO CHECK!
• “Common central area” also includes a microwave, bar fridge, kettle, sink, water cooler dispenser, and security waste bin 
• Emergency button is located on the wall in the “common central area”, near the water cooler dispenser
• The unisex toilet is located near the front door of the portable (other toilets are located in the front portable as well as in the main building, just past the PJC café)
