Roundup for week beginning 26/10/20

Introducing the new Achieve Framework

Over the next few weeks you will start to see some communication about the Achieve Framework.

This new framework replaces our Performance Feedback and Development (PFD) practice and is designed to help us improve the way we have our performance and development conversations.  Achieve  will be implemented for all employees with annual performance conversations due from the 1st of February 2021 onwards.

There will be a short learning program launching soon to introduce you to this new framework. This program is for all Eastern Health employees to complete in preparation for your next annual Achieve Conversation (previously Performance Feedback and Development Meeting).

This learning program will provide you with tips and tricks on how you can get the most out of these conversations so that they’re simpler and more relevant to you. It will also help you build some skills and habits around regular and ongoing feedback and reflection as well as walk you through the new process and tools.

This learning program will need to be completed a couple of months before your annual conversation and will be rolled out progressively based on the conversation date of staff each month

You’ll be notified when you are due to start the learning program but you can check your Achieve Conversation due date in iLearn under My Learning > My completed Learning > My due dates to get a rough idea so you can plan ahead.

Through this program we will be working towards asking for more feedback and aiming to reflect and learn from our experiences more.

More information will be available soon.   In the interim, send any questions you may have to organisational.development@easternhealth.org.au.

Leave Planning

Don't forget that a leave planner is available at L:\EHGroupShare\EH Library\Staff Management\Leave Planning  You can check this spreadsheet to see what leave has been booked by staff prior to placing leave requests in RosterOn.

DiTA database

DiTA is a sister database to PEDro. I was aware of PEDro but not of DiTA. I have added this database to our LibGuide on Evidence Based Practice Resources

The webinar below sounds useful - especially for those staff who undertake literature searches. You need to register to be able to view the webinar.

Getting Started with Cochrane Library - Wednesday 28/10/20 @ 9.00 am Singapore time (= 12.00 pm Melbourne time)

Cochrane Library is a collection of databases of systematic reviews and meta-analyses that inform healthcare decision-making.

Join this upcoming webinar where Alejandra Barciela, Associate Director, Customer Training at Wiley, will give an overview of Cochrane Library content and the platform features that will help you search like an expert.

There will be opportunities to ask questions at the end of the presentation.
Key Highlights:
1.    Discover how to search the Cochrane Library effectively to find the content that matters through PICO search and how to sign up for email alerts
2.    Learn how Cochrane Systematic Reviews, CENTRAL trials, Clinical Answers, and Editorials can help you reach the right decisions in your point of care delivery
3.    Discover how to use Epistemonikos to access the best evidence-based health care

Roundup for week beginning 19/10/20

Redesign of CHC website

Below are the notes (Word.doc) compiled by Joanna Szczepanska from the CHC workshop that I recently attended. I have also attached her e-mail (Outlook)  that summarises the work being undertaken.

Joanne refers to the CIAP (Clinical Information Access Portal - the NSW version of CHC) site. Workshop members reviewed a number of sites. The CIAP site was considered to provide the best model for the redevelopment of the CHC site because:

  • reduces the need to scroll down to find resources
  • high use resources easily available from the home page
  • good use of icons - but with short snippets of text for those not familar with the icons
  • menu option easily available on the left hand side to find other resources not on the home page.

All points we can keep in mind for when we redesign our LibGuides.

How to maintain integrity when working remotely

Please ensure that you have read and are familiar with your responsibilities as Victoria public sector employees working remotely.

The Short Guide: How to maintain integrity when working remotely

The full guide is available below.

LibGuides no longer supports Internet Explorer 11

LibGuides no longer supports the use of IE 11. If you access our LibGuides using IE you will notice a banner that appears at the top of the page similar to that below. More information is available here

Some of our pages also do not appear to be working in IE 11, such as tabbed boxes. So make sure you are using Chrome when accessing our Guides. Chrome should be available on all EH PCs. It should also be available on the Citrix platform I am told, though I can't see it on my Citrix desktop. May need to request it.

Retirement of Legacy PubMed

Legacy PubMed is to be retired at the end of this month. See the latest NLM Technical Bulletin for more information.

Accreditation

The Standard Work for Leaders: 2020 corporate tool has been released. This tool is used to assess the accreditation-readiness for each department.  The first few items refer to our performance board and how we monitor our performance. I have attached a template from the Performance Board Practice Guideline that gives an idea of what a performance board (in a clinical area) should look like.
